So much loss in
Such a short
Amount of time
The grief is
Finally starting to
Really set in
It comes in waves
Pulling me further
Into the ocean
I try to swim
Against the tides
Against the current
With all my might
The water cascades
Pushing me below
The surface
Where I sink
Lost in the depths
Of the deepest blue
ABOUT THIS WORK
Written after losing both of my dogs, Allie and Lily; my stepfather, Tim; great-grandmother, Nana Christine; and a childhood friend, Matthew; within the span of 6 weeks between December 13, 2021 and January 26, 2022.
In memory of my beloved dog, Lily Ann, who passed away suddenly on January 26, 2022. Our girl, Lily, nestling into a nap for a slumber.
How I picture you, now. Oh, how I miss you so much.
Life is a cruel and unjust mistress.

Hey! I'm Ammie-Marie.
